The Team

Tony Chattin, as Managing Director, oversees the running of MSS Global, key client engagement, and the rebalancing of strategic priorities and operational resources to ensure MSS Global continue to deliver an internationally renowned and ethical assurance service.

Spare time sees Tony either mounting biking, whitewater kayaking, or being over-protective of his (now grown up) daughter.

Ian Beers, as Performance Director, leads our human resources capability generation and development, the introduction of new schemes and service lines, and provides quality control across the breadth of the company.

Although not known for taking time off, he spends much of it walking his dog Tiffa.

Ray Randall, as Strategy Director, oversees the identification, development, and exploitation of emergent international market opportunities for MSS Global.  He brings a wealth of Board level private security industry experience to our team having served in numerous C-Suite level positions, including SVP Operations and Chief Operating Officer.

Spare time is spent enjoying life in Denmark and the US (and getting out in to the hills when he can).

Juliet Protas, as General Counsel and Board member provides legal and regulatory assurance to support our international client base.  Having previously acted as SVP and General Counsel for a number of international corporations and private security companies, she has a deep understanding of the legal and regulatory complexities of operating in challenging and fragile environments.

Based in the US, Juliet's limited spare time is spent being a mother to two very energetic children.

Oona Muirhead, CBE is a non-executive director.  She provides strategic depth, intellectual rigour, and with a background in the security industry, is able to support the Board manage the inevitable risks borne of growing the company as it generates a global presence.

Oona’s spare time is spent in the hills, often trekking over alpine hills and cols, or escaping from London to hills of Scotland.

Paul Cook, MBE, forms a senior part of our Performance team. With a strong background in security and a deep knowledge of assurance standards, (and their operational implementation across all sizes of company), he both supports clients internationally, and mentors the ongoing development of our people.

Aside from work, Paul is an adaptive dive instructor, giving his own time up to help wounded service personnel and civilians with life changing injuries learn to scuba dive.

Dai Phillips, MBE, is our Client Development Manager.   An astute, knowledgeable, and friendly person, he is here to help our clients and those interested in our services to navigate through the assurance application process as smoothly as possible.  He has deep experience in both security and education sectors, and has worked across the management chain spectrum from operator to COO.

And when he is not working for MSS Global, you’ll find Dai working on his golf handicap (currently 6).

Keith Stanton is a highly experienced Operations Manager.  He brings a wealth of experience and depth of analysis for both our clients, and MSS Global as a company, providing insight to ensure we provide an optimized operational service across the company.

In his spare time Keith retains his passion for sport by utilising his spare capacity to organise and host international sports teams during tournaments and events.

Sophie Hibberd holds the fort as the office manager.  She is the finance and human resources point of contact, and oversees our e-presence.  In addition, Sophie makes sure everybody is paid – so she is very important.

Disability from a skiing accident 20 years ago does not slow her down, and when not working, you will normally find her thrashing her dogs over the Cumbrian fells in all weathers.

Mark Edwards has worked for MSS Global as a Lead Auditor from the early days and covers most of schemes.  A friendly and engaging manner helps him gain the confidence of clients and effectively draw out evidence during audits.

When not auditing, Mark contributes to community activities with the Marine Society and Sea Cadets, giving young people the best possible head start through military themed adventurous training.

Evirpidis Karamperidis, based in Greece as a Lead Auditor, has a broad range of experience which includes running a company involved in defense and law enforcement procurement, and is fluent in a number of languages, including Greek, English and French.  His sector commercial experience, coupled with a Masters in Operational Research, ensures he adds real value for the client .

When not leading our Greek based team, you will find him in the countryside trekking, or underwater scuba diving.

Andy Protheroe is a highly experienced Lead Auditor member of the team.  With a strong health, safety and environment background supporting a wealth of experience in the high risk security sector, he adds real value.

Andy has only recently discovered what time off means, having invested much time and energy in his Post Graduate Diploma in Safety, Health and Environment.

Ian Hawkridge is a highly experienced security industry Lead Auditor.  With knowledge and experience of both benign environments, and complex and fragile economy countries, he brings a calm, sound sense of judgement and honesty that is welcomed by clients through his insightful value add.

When not auditing or consulting, you may be able to track Ian down to his second home in Cyprus.

Atif Sultan brings a central and middle eastern expertise to the team as a Lead Auditor.  With experience in the head office of a major security company, allied to working all his professional life in the corporate arena, he understands how businesses 'work'.  This is further supported through his mastery of a number of languages, including English, Urdu and Arabic.

A real family man, in his spare time you'll find Atif investing much in supporting his local cricket club, or running around delivering his kids to school and clubs.

Joe Gattuso, based in the United States as a Lead Auditor, possesses a broad range of practical expertise in management systems within the private security industry and as well has worked in different capacities for a number of large private security firms within the industry, conferring significant operational experience to benefit MSS Global clients.

When not auditing, he writes and serves as the Managing Director for The Wild Olive Press, a small publishing firm. When not publishing, he is repairing fences, feeding livestock, pressing apples to make cider, making sausage, making bread, smoking hams, or feeding horses, cows, and sheep.

Johnny Aisbitt has deep experience in business continuity and resilience, and risk-based management systems, and business resilience.  A Lead Auditor with significant experience of PSCs in both western and middle east countries, his assessments provide a pragmatic, value add to our clients.

With an infectious enthusiasm for life, away from work you will find Johnny enjoying the Cumbrian fells.

John ‘Sal’ Martinez, based out of Guatemala as a Lead Auditor, is highly experienced in both the international private security arena, and CENTAM, LATAM and Caribbean regions, and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, and their regional nuances.

When not working, you will find Sal developing his ecolodge business in Guatemala to meet the growing eco-tourism demand in the region.
